BIOGRAPHY
Personality: Basically, a laid back wise ass who doesn't get riled up easily.
The focus in Wilde's life has changed a little; he's more interested in family than in his own goals. Not to say he doesn't want to succeed but he's in a more patriarch mindset, seeing himself as the gatekeeper to the next generation of superstars.
He tends not to cheat much. If he were to, it would be more along the line of "funny mischievous face" cheating than any true heel tactics. That's fairly unlikely, though, and not something that would happen often- only at the right time.
Note: This may contain spoilers for early Wilde roleplays.
Personal History: Having started wrestling at age 17, much of Wilde's career was tied up in wrestling until his run in Global Extreme Wrestling. He wrestled under the guidance of Shelly Hollins although she's only a bit older than him. They were best friends for years. They eventually ended up together, though this was a while after Wilde had a child by another woman (only known as Moose) while Shelly had herself a child along with a very talented wrestler named Lightning. Once Wilde and Shelly got together, eventually marrying, they raised the children as their own.
With both children at the age they're ready to be wrestlers soon, that's obviously been the focus for Wilde, Shelly and Moose, who's still in their lives.
Career History: Having started the business before his 18th birthday as a part of his late uncle's stable, Aceside more than 20 years ago, Wilde's basically seen it all in pro wrestling. It was his uncle's recent passing that motivated Wilde and his sister Rebecca to amp up their training and focus on getting into ring shape again.
Family, friends and stables have always played into Wilde's career, which might be a part of why he's excelled in tag team competition with a variety of partners. Often (but not always) the leader, Wilde came into GEW to revive one of the more recent stables at the time, Youthful Image, along with co-leader Tommy Rogue and rookies JBird and Faline, now better known as Savannah.
That's not all Wilde revived. From teaming with his sister, Rebecca Tanke-Grubb, to reviving his talk show segment (Wildlive), Wilde had a lot of fun in GEW, winning the tag team title (with Maximum_Ordicus) and the Extreme Chaos title.
After having matches against various top wrestlers in GEW, Wilde hasn't really wrestled much since, being happily retired until the recent death of his uncle, "Ace" Tanke.
Associates: Rebecca Tanke-Grubb (sister and frenemy), Amanda Anke (daughter), Cid Hollins (stepson), Shelly Hollins (wife), Maximus_Ordicus (ex brother-in-law, ex tag team partner and rival), Brandi (niece), Stan Grubb (ex brother-in-law, promoter), Savannah (ex stablemate) and countless more.
Title History: Numerous titles including various tag team and cruiserweight / light heavyweight titles, as well as the last GEW Extreme title
MATCH-WRITING INFO
Entrance Theme: "Staring at the Sun" (Wild edition) by Offspring
Entrance Description:
Lights die down; a golden spotlight illuminates the ring. Music starts here. Wilde walks out, kneeling. Shelly joins him, standing behind him as a short burst of gold and white pyro go off behind them (if applicable). The two then walk to the ring side by side. Wilde will slide into the ring while Shelly will circle around, use the ring stairs, ascend to the top rope and do a backflip (usually over Wilde), landing gracefully on their feet. They'll do some pose together (pick something simple, writer), and then quickly turn to discussing last minute strategy.
Fighting Style & Mindset: All arounder/ submission specialist. Although his focus is on mat wrestling, brawling and of course, submissions (often targeting the leg in particular), Wilde ranges from competent to excellent in most genres of wrestling, and loves to change up styles to throw an opponent off guard, although he mainly likes to pick the type of style the opponent is vulnerable to and exploit it to maximum efficiency.
Wilde's a talented southpaw brawler, frequently using his left jabs in particular to keep opponents off balance, set them up for bigger moves, and to occasionally interrupt and even counter an opponent's offense, which lets him pick and choose a wrestling style the opponent might be vulnerable to.
He's a versatile but basic high flyer, preferring to use drop kicks and cross bodies - or springboards and slingshot variations of the above - over more acrobatic or "flippy" moves. He is capable of pulling off something a little more fancy but prefers to save that for "more important" spots.
Finally, in terms of submissions, he'll often focus on the knee early in the match, when he's in big trouble, and of course, near the end of the match, especially if he's setting up for a submission win. Being a veteran, he should zoom in on any "opportune" injuries an opponent displays, especially if it comes during the match.
Primary Finisher:
Howl of the Wolf - DVD setup into a bulldog
Alternative Finisher:
1) Justification - DVD setup into a snake eyes, great for false finishes, especially if the Howl of the Wolf fails (or he just wants something different)
2) Chicago Loop - Standing toe hold - Key as he's a submission specialist.
Limit Break Finisher: (Super-rare, only-for-huge-matches finisher when all else fails.)
Straight to video - dvd off the top rope
Signature Moves / Spots:
1) Chicago Skyline - Old style cross body block through the top and middle ropes, with opponent standing outside. (Usually preceded with Wilde running off the ropes)
2) Top rope knee drop
3) Series of quick left jabs
4) Slingshot cross body block
5) Catapult drop kick to the knee
6) Series of drop kicks to the knee
Common Moves:
1) Drop toe hold - commonly used to send an opponent head or throat first into the bottom rope or middle turnbuckle
2) Double leg takedown from behind
3) Quick left jab, right cross, quick left jab, drop kick to the knee
4) Knee to the gut (setup for something bigger midmatch)
5) Small package (a favored counterhold, too)
6) Diving shoulder block to the back of the knee
7) Forceful headbutt - usually enough to stagger Wilde for a moment; great setup for a snap suplex as it often leaves the opponent staggering but standing
8) Snap Suplex (sometimes followed by a quick kipup)
9) Knee drop to the center of the head- great followup for a slam or suplex
10) Series of jabs to the knees (with opponent on their back or sitting against the ropes, either with Wilde kneeling next to them or holding their leg in the air)
11) DVD
12) Superkick - only attempted once per match, hit or mess, which is a new thing, unlikely to be commented on by announcers early on
13) Figure Four leglock (only used very late in a match, probably only after a false finish or two)
14) PSP - Peace sign into a punch (only when he's feeling nostalgic or cocky)
15) Sunset flip - Used at pretty much any point in the match, usually either after a knee to the gut or as a counter
Weapon of Choice: Glass display case, often filled with other goodies and Chicago memorabilia
Match of Choice: Standard wrestling match or a Chicago Street fight (singles or tag team)
